About this Workshop

Curious about laser cutting but not sure where to start? This hands-on Laser Cutter Workshop introduces you to one of the most powerful and versatile tools in the makerspace.

Learn to use the makerspace laser cutter while making a beautiful Valentine's Day gift.

In this workshop, you’ll learn how a laser cutter works, what materials can be safely cut or engraved, and how to prepare files for successful results. We’ll walk through the full workflow—from digital design to finished part—so you understand not just how to use the machine, but why certain settings and techniques matter.

Participants will see live demonstrations of cutting and engraving, learn essential safety procedures, and explore real-world examples of projects such as signs, boxes, jigs, art pieces, and more. By the end of the session, you’ll feel confident navigating the laser cutter and ready to start creating.

This workshop is ideal for beginners and makers of all backgrounds. No prior laser experience is required.
