Make a Laser Cut Heart Pendant
Curious about laser cutting but not sure where to start? This hands-on Laser Cutter Workshop introduces you to one of the most powerful and versatile tools in the makerspace. Learn to use the makerspace laser cutter while making a beautiful Valentine's Day gift. In this workshop, you’ll learn how a laser cutter works, what materials can be safely cut or engraved, and how to prepare files for successful results. We’ll walk through the full workflow—from digital design to finished part—so you understand not just how to use the machine, but why certain settings and techniques matter. Participants will see live demonstrations of cutting and engraving, learn essential safety procedures, and explore real-world examples of projects such as signs, boxes, jigs, art pieces, and more. CNC 101 - Intro to CNC with the Nomad Pro
This CNC 101 workshop is a beginner-friendly, hands-on introduction to computer-controlled machining using the Carbide 3D Nomad Pro desktop CNC mill. Designed for makers with little to no CNC experience, this class will walk you through the complete workflow from digital design to a finished part while emphasizing safe and proper use of the machine. Participants will learn how CNC milling works, what materials can be used, and how to prepare and run jobs on the Nomad Pro. By the end of the workshop, you’ll understand how to securely set up material, load tools, and confidently run a basic CNC program. CNC 102 - Intro to the Shapeoko 4'x4' CNC Router
CNC 102: Intro to the 4’ x 4’ Shapeoko CNC CNC 102 builds on the fundamentals learned in CNC 101 and transitions participants from a desktop CNC to the makerspace’s Shapeoko 4' × 4' CNC router. This workshop focuses on working at a larger scale and understanding more advanced CNC toolpaths and workflows. Participants will explore how CNC concepts change when moving to a larger machine—covering workholding, efficient job setup, and strategies for cutting larger, more complex parts. The class emphasizes safe operation, thoughtful toolpath planning, and practical techniques used for real-world CNC projects such as furniture parts, signs, kinetic sculptures and more! Gardening 101 - Seed Starting
A free hands-on workshop covering the basics of growing plants from seed -- when to start what, what items you need, and how to care for your seedlings indoors. All supplies provided by instructor. Participants will leave with a 4 inch pot of freshly planted seeds, and the knowledge needed to nurture them. 18+ (children welcome with parent) The workshop is free to the public but make sure to register as capacity is limited.

Intro to 3D Printing - A Hands-On Makerspace Workshop
Curious about 3D printing but not sure where to start? This beginner-friendly workshop is designed to give you a clear, practical introduction to how 3D printers work—and how to use them successfully in a makerspace environment. We’ll demystify the entire process, from digital design to finished print, while sharing real-world tips that help you avoid common mistakes and wasted material. What You’ll Learn How FDM (filament) 3D printers work The main parts of a 3D printer and what they do Common materials (PLA, PETG, etc.) and when to use them How slicing software turns a 3D model into printer instructions Key settings that affect print quality, strength, and time How to load filament and prepare a printer for a print Typical failure modes—and how to spot and fix them early What We’ll Do Walk through a real print from digital file to manufactured part Watch a print begin and learn what “good” first layers look like Examine finished prints and failed prints to understand why results differ Who This Workshop Is For Beginners with little or no 3D printing experience Makers who have used a printer but want a stronger foundation Makerspace members looking to gain access to the 3D printers.
